Awards

The 2024 CalSPRA Awards of Excellence Program will open for award submissions in September 2023 and close in October 2023.

Projects eligible for submission must have been completed between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023 (the 22-23 school year). It is okay if the project was started prior to July 1, 2022

Yes, there is a small overlap with last year’s time period because of our shift to the school year period. It is okay to resubmit an entry from last year provided it did not win an award.

We adjusted the timeline for two reasons:

1. Make it easier for people to find out if they won an award before they had to make decisions about conference and award dinner attendance
2. Simplify the time period for submissions as it has been confusing in the past and most projects are completed within a given school year

Ballot Measure Information Campaign, Community Engagement Campaign, DEI Campaign, Crisis Communication & Issues Management, Internal Communication Campaign, Marketing Campaign, Social Media Campaign, Special Events

B: Tactical Efforts (Be prepared to discuss audience, distribution and impact in your submission)

Annual Report, Feature/Editorial Writing, DEI Feature, Multilingual Materials, General Publications/Collateral Materials, Internet/Intranet, Website, Logo Design, Media Relations, Multimedia/Visual Communication, Newsletter

The rubrics will be adjusted to align with NSPRA awards. This will make it much easier for our members to re-submit the same entries to the NSPRA award program as well as make it easier for our judges from out of state.

Each entry is judged on the overall excellence of the entry as well as its quality compared to other entries in the category. The top award in each category is the Award of Excellence. Awards of Merit are also given in each category.
